Why Sleep Is Essential To Your Beauty

Last night while you were sleeping your skin was still on the clock. Did you know that your skin not only changes from your environment and weather, but also from day to night? It’s true. Physiology of the skin of the skin changes from day to night. It’s called circadian rhythms. Your skin produces less oil, is warmer, loses more water, & repairs itself more at night than during daylight. While you’re getting your beauty rest your skin gets a break, well sort of. Night time is  your skins time to go into recovery mode and repair the trauma that it has  undergone throughout the day.

How do we take advantage of this natural process? From dry skin, fine lines, wrinkles, and acne prone skin this is the perfect time to add what your skin is lacking during the day. Nourishment is the primary force to restoration and choosing the right tool is the first step. Serums (because they are concentrated), essential oils (such as rosehip), moisturizing creams work well (depending on your skin care needs) to repair and restore because your skin is open to receive more nourishment. So, look at night time as a time of renewal not just for your body, but for your skin as well!

Throw Back Beauty: Jayne Kennedy

Jayne made her initial entrance into the spotlight when she won Miss Ohio in 1970. Her win granted her the opportunity to be a semifinalist for the Miss USA pageant, which was a feat its own during this time. Mrs. Kennedy went from beauty queen to sports announcer becoming one of the first female sports announcers for The NFL Today in 1978.

I love Jayne’s sleek and gorgeous look in this photo. The splash of berry on her lips compliments her appearance perfectly. If you’d like a color similar to Jayne’s try Vivid Emotion @ myellanicole.com
